Morgan's First Christmas

Morgan had a wonderful first Christmas. She got to spend lots of quality time with her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Hanging out with Uncle Russ and Aunt Mandi was lots of fun. Russell taught us some new tricks, like bouncing Morgan on the bed to get a good laugh.
Uncle Reed and Aunt Kristen were fun too. Reed held Morgan for the first time, and he looks mighty comfortable to me!

And Nana got to dress Morgan up in her pretty Christmas dress that she got for her, while Pap enjoyed lounging in the bed with Morgan in the mornings.

And of course Mom and Dad enjoyed their first Christmas with their firstborn child too. Morgan also racked up on some fun gifts!

Not Cool Mom

Morgan wore this cute hoodie gown today. I tried the hood on her, and she didn't appreciate that very much. She looks like a gangsta baby. Well, more like an angry gangsta baby. I thought it was pretty funny. I hope people out there get my sense of humor and don't think I'm torturing my child...

Ruben

Here is Ruben "walking on water". He has this new thing whenever he gets near the bath water, he starts running in air. It's pretty funny to us. I guess he's trying to escape...

Morgan and her suitors

Morgan has had a busy week. We went to Cleveland over the weekend, where she got to meet William Harris (son of Meg and Ben). And today, Carter Rowe (son of Heather and Cory) came over to meet her as well. See below for some fun pics!

Carter (left) and Morgan hanging out on floor together. Carter is 5 days older than Morgan.
I think Carter is reaching for Morgan's hand. Morgan squeals with delight.

All Good

Morgan had her first round of shots this week at her doctor's appointment. She did really well. Her head did turn a disturbing shade of purple, but only for a few seconds. She weighed in at 11 lbs 6 oz and measured 22 inches long. We are glad to have it behind us, and we are also glad to have a healthy baby girl. Here are some recent pics of our gorgeous darling.

This is Morgan modeling her sweet Christmas dress.
Bundled up for a cold day in her bunny-eared jacket.
All dressed up for church.
Nappin' with daddy after filling her belly.

Call Me Granola

Christmas came early for me this year. Matt and I bought me a new car this weekend. We went green and bought a hybrid. It's a silver Toyota Prius. I am super excited. It's the coolest car I have ever seen. When I told my brother Kemp I was looking at a Prius, his comment was "you're so granola". Well, yes I am - and proud of it. This car gets 60 mpg and will save me over $1,000 in gas each year. And it recycles the air pollutants so I give off 70% less carbon dioxide emissions than the average new car. So now I can rest easier at night knowing I am doing my part to reverse global warming. Matt wanted to take a stand against oil companies' rising gas prices, and I wanted an environment-friendly car. The Prius is the perfect answer. We couldn't be happier, and we highly recommend going green to any future car shoppers out there. It also has cool features like a push button for start (no key needed) and a back up camera. Merry Christmas!

Kickboxer

Matt calls Morgan the "kickboxer" these days. She has started kicking her legs quite rapidly. Again, this may be the most boring video to anyone else, but it's fun for us. She must be getting a workout with the kicking, because she has slept through the night for the last two nights in a row! I'm sure I just jinxed it for tonight, but we are quite proud of Baby Mo! Oh - and we had a much more successful trip to church this Sunday. Mo didn't sleep the whole time, but was pretty good throughout. She's growing up so fast...

Decorating the Tree

I love nothing more than to decorate for Christmas. I just think it makes a house look and feel so cozy. Matt even helped decorate the tree this year, and he lovingly put up with my Mariah Carey Christmas CD while we worked. Morgan can't help yet, but she really does like to look at the lights on the tree. And I just know she's a Mariah fan as well.

First Trip to Church!

We took Morgan to church for the first time this morning. She looked so pretty, even though I could NOT figure out how the heck the matching bonnet was supposed to tie around her head. Then Matt told me he refused to let her wear it anyway. She was sleeping like an angel straight from Heaven, until... During the children's service, a child told the preacher "I gotta go potty" very loudly. That caused the entire congregation to laugh hysterically, which woke Morgan up. We couldn't get her to go back to sleep, so we did have to make an early exit. We'll try again next Sunday!

Bed Head

This is Morgan waking up from a long nap on the couch. She had a pretty severe case of bed head. I'm sure she doesn't appreciate me posting this picture, but I thought it was pretty hilarious! You can't see it in the picture, but I swear the hair on the sides of her head were matted in the same pattern as the couch.

Thanks Nana and Pap!

Thanks to Nana and Pap, Matt and I got to have our first night out since Morgan was born. The grandparents did not hesitate to come babysit this weekend so we could get out of the house. Morgan even got all dressed up for her Nana!
Pap is so sweet with Morgan. He made me tear up just watching him rock her this morning. That man loves his grand-daughter!

Morgan was so happy to spend time with her grandparents. She was just smiling away!

Thanks Nana and Pap for babysitting. It was a much needed break! We'll be calling on you again soon!

Another First!

We have success! Morgan spent her first night in the crib two nights ago. She started this grunting thing that kept Matt and I awake all night with her in the bassinet. She seriously would grunt all through her sleep. So we moved her to the crib. And I'll be darned if the girl didn't get her best night sleep yet! She slept for 5 hours straight on the first stretch - a major first. And then another 3 hours the second stretch. This gave Mama a much needed night's rest. I didn't even know what to do with all my energy the next day! They grow up so fast! She's already outgrown sleeping in the bassinet! Here's a picture of her loving the crib. So many friendly faces among her many stuffed animals.

First Smile!

We captured Morgan's first smile this morning. Matt was leaning over smiling at her and she smiled back! I'm positive it was not gas. He got her to do it several times. It was priceless! We also got a cute picture of her yawning.

Morgan plays with her tongue

This is probably the most boring video to anyone but me and Matt. This is Morgan playing with her tongue. I am continuously fascinated by the smallest things! You can also hear some good grunts in there. She is a grunting machine, I tell you.

Nap time with the kids

Matt and Morgan decided to take a nap on the couch. Ruben didn't want to be left out, so he hopped on too. I thought it was cute!

Ballerina?

Morgan loves to play with her hands. I feel some of these poses resemble some ballerina stances???? Maybe we will have a dancer on our hands!

Or maybe she'll be more into gansta rap... "Bounce wit me, bounce wit me..."

Hungry Baby

This is Morgan and her "C". That is what we are calling the maternal grandmother. Morgan got a little hungry and started sucking on C's face. We thought it was pretty funny. Here is Morgan hanging out in the boppy pillow. She's so cute!

And here are Morgan and Ruben hanging out watching PTI on ESPN with Daddy:

Good Report!

This is Morgan as we are leaving for our first Pediatrician's appointment. I was dying to see if she had gained any weight. She weighed 5 lbs 13 oz when we left the hospital, and when we went back for a 2 day check up she still had not gained any weight. Well, we found out she weighs 7 lbs 2 oz! I took this as a personal victory, since I'm breastfeeding. The doctor was hoping that she was at least back up to her birth weight, so he was more than pleased with her weight gain. Now maybe some of her cute clothes will start to fit! The doctor visit went really well otherwise as well. My new name for Morgan is Miss Piggy. She also snores and it sounds like a pug dog!
By the way, Morgan had an extremely fussy day that day. For some reason, she immediately went quiet when I put her in the car seat. When we got home, I didn't take her out for 30 minutes so I could get some things done. The car seat is mighty constraining. Who knew this would be her favorite seat in the house (other than mama's arms)?

Where did it go?

We had a big morning here in the Trusty house. We woke up for our 5:00 am feeding, and we needed a diaper change. This is where we discovered Morgan's umbilical cord finally fell off! It's been hanging on by a thread for a day or two now, so I was incredibly excited to see it had fallen off. I also noticed that we lost a sock in the middle of the night. Now the question remains, where did it go? We cannot find the umbilical cord stump anywhere nor the sock. Sort of gross...

Anyway - here are some new pics as well. Ruben is finally showing a little more interest in Morgan. They came face-to-face for the first time today. I'm also obsessed with her hands. I wanted to take a picture before they get so big I can't remember how tiny they used to be!

Sweet Baby Girl

This is my first post since we got home - sorry! We have been super busy with lots of company and "settling in". I must say, things are going really well. The adjustment period is just that - an adjustment. But I think the new mama and daddy are hanging in there. Morgan is so good though. We are really lucky. She's so much fun to just stare at. Who'd a thunk it? Below is a sweet picture of her in her crib with all her stuffed animals. I swear she's the sweetest thing I have ever encountered. And I truly don't feel I'm being biased (I'm sure every mom would say the same thing). Matt is the best daddy ever too. I think he is more in love with her than I am sometimes! Thanks to everyone for all the calls and emails. We feel so blessed. Hope you enjoy!

baby girl striking more poses

Mama has done really well the past 36 hours. She is taking a little nap right now. I just like to link the pictures. I've kind of taken to this blog thing. Hopefully, Ruben will allow Morgan into the pack.
Hope y'all enjoy. Matt
